Mark your calendar for Friday, August 16th and get ready to elevate your National Rum Day celebration with a captivating expedition through San Diego's most lively bars. Whether you're a dedicated rum enthusiast hunting for the perfect blend or merely searching for a fun night out, we've curated a list of the city's paramount establishments, each epitomizing the pinnacle of rum mixology, promising an unforgettable and sensational experience.

Mavericks Beach Club is a can't-miss Pacific Beach hot spot featuring Baja-inspired bites, excellent Happy Hour specials, and a refreshing lineup of tasty drinks. On National Rum Day, raise a glass to the Mavericks Mai Tai, a boozy concoction made with Bacardi Dark & White Rum orange juice, lime, mango, amaretto, orgeat, and Myers Float. And on Fridays, the Mavericks Mai Tai is just $6 during Happy Hour, from 2:00pm - 6:00pm! 

Coco Maya, located in the heart of Little Italy, is celebrating National Rum Day with  $7 Great Idea Shots: house blended rum with a pineapple orange cordial chaser! Other rum-centric cocktail favorites include the Negroni Tropicale with coconut oil washed pineapple infused rum, bananarol, and cocchi di torino, and the Caribe Welcome with house rum blend, apricot brandy, lime, fresh coconut water, and coconut cream, served in fresh young coconut. 

Miss B's Coconut Club is also a must-visit during any rum-filled celebration. Located in Mission Beach, cocktails will transport you to a tropical hideaway, like The Coconut Club Cocktail with miss b's rum mix, pineapple orange cordial, and coco lopez. Join the Caribe Cartel by taking a "flight" to the rum region of your choice, earning pins and merchandise as you explore! 

Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill & Oysters in La Jolla Shores presents the Banana Hammock, featuring a blend of Jamaican rums, banana liqueur, coconut, pineapple, and lime. The beachy beverage is from Bar Manager Andrew Phillips, who came to Sandpiper from Cellar 335, one of the top-rated tiki bars in the NYC area according to Yelp. Other rum-based cocktails on the menu include the Aloha Kope, which includes rum, espresso, allspice coconut cream, vanilla, and cinnamon. Sandpiper is located a short walk from the beach, offering a host of shareables, seafood, and wood-fired meats from Executive Chef Marty Fay.
